See what happens to you if you eat my crocuses?
Ok, actually I found it when I was raking out the front vegetable bed. Hoping it’ll work as a deterrent, I put it on the boulder next to my bulb garden, where the little devils left my crocus stems after their lunch.
They’re undeterrible (word?).
I haven’t been able to keep them out of the owl house. I tried fox urine, which is supposed to be pretty nasty stuff, but it didn’t phase them. [Imagine collecting fox urine for a living.]
My only solution is to plant so much stuff, there’s some left for us. But if they go after my corn, we’ll need to consider 2nd Amendment remedies.
My oldest edition of Joy of Cooking includes instructions for skinning a squirrel, and Lowes sells live traps… But I don’t think I want to go to the effort for squirrel pot pie.
I have to check around for fox urine. I’ve heard that before. Also human hair, but I don’t have enough of that. The store had sprays but they all had warnings to not use them near food plants. They seemed to be mixtures of eggs, hot pepper, and garlic, so I could make up my own recipe, I suppose.
I did get more chicken wire and covered both gardens. That seems to work until the plants get too big.
